The Boston Clock Company formed by Joseph Eastman was in business from 1884 until 1897. It was the immediate ancestor of the famous Chelsea Clock Company which is still in business. The Boston Clock Company designed and built a small number of high quality and innovative timepieces during its relatively short life.
This handsome top quality weight driven wall mounted regulator clock is one of the rarer clocks built by the Boston Clock Company. Clocks of this pattern were used in homes and offices.
This impressive timepiece has a top quality eight day weight driven movement signed 'BOSTON CLOCK COMPANY' and serial numbered 539 giving an idea of the small number of this model produced. The clock retains its original 13 1/2" dial, blued steel hands, and weight. It is in its original fine walnut case with original reverse painted glass tablet.
This clock is in fine original condition. The movement is fine and runs well. The dial retains 85% original paint with some inpainting in flaked spots. the original blued steel hands are in fine condition. The walnut case is in fine condition with original finish and fine color. The original reverse painted glass tablet is in fine condition.
This great looking and rare American regulator is a worthwhile piece for a collector of American clocks or Americana in general.
