Rare 1880s Holster for a
Smith and Wesson New Model Number 3 Revolver

A great looking and rare 'Border Loop' holster made for the Smith & Wesson 'New Model No. 3' Single Action Revolver with 6 1/2" barrel circa 1880.

An antique frontier holster for the S&W New Model No.3 is a most difficult item to find. This fine Two-Loop-Mexican-Border-Style holster has excellent form and a finely shaped skirt. The black saddle leather holster exhibits excellent workmanship and has the 'varnish' finish found on Civil War period leather.

The holster is in fine condition with fine stitching and fine crackeled patina. The leather is somewhat dry commensurate with its age and accepts a revolver with no problem.

This is a rare and great looking frontier period holster that would display very well with a fine Smith & Wesson.
