A fine Model of a U.S. Army 75 mm Anti Aircraft cannon, ca. 1930's. In this period, military authorities were beginning to become aware of the great potential danger to ground facilities posed by air attack in time of war. Efforts were made to develop powerful, up to date anti-aircraft artillery. The United States government favored an anti-aircraft gun based on the proven 75mm designs used by the field Artillery. The resultant ant-aircraft gun exemplified by this model was highly regarded and saw extensive use in World War II with both the Army and Navy. We believe this scarce model was one of a small group created as presentation / gift pieces for military and other government personnel involved in the gun's development and manufacture.

This handsome model was very finely crafted by an expert machinist in steel and brass. The traverse and elevation aspects work, and the model is in especially fine original condition. The base retains its original black laquer finish. The steel parts have a very attractive aged gray tone, and the brass parts have a fine patina. This is a display model built without a working breech.

This is a very attractive attractive finely made piece for anyone interested in military history and World War II
