Fine U.S.Naval Gun Factory Binoculars, WW-I

Scroll for description and price

A fine set of World War I US Navy/USMC binoculars, 6x30 power, made by the 'U.S.Naval Gun Factory Optical Annex Shop, Rochester, NY'. They are also marked, 'Bureau of Navigation, 6x30, US Navy'.

These binoculars are in exceptional original condition. The optics are fine and clear with sharp focus and all controls are fine. The metal parts retain 95% original clean laquer with light high edge wear. The original leatherette covering is in excellent condition. The original leather case is in fine condition with the interior clearly marked, 'U.S.Naval Gun Factory.......'. The case exterior retains nearly all its original finish with age patination, some staining, and light edgewear. A 'Crown Optical Company' compass is mounted on the top of the case lid. The compass appears to work; its glass cover is cracked in two places. The historical U.S.Navy Gun Factory binoculars saw heavy usage in WW-I and after the war aboard US Navy ships and with USMC detatchments all over the world.

This set is in far better condition than usually encountered and would be a fine item for the military or nautical collector.
