This handome and impressive dirk/dagger is of French, or Dutch origin ca. 1850. The brass mountings and general naval-dirk form suggest this fine piece was made for a ship's officer The very finely designed and very heavy brass hilt and scabbard show especially fine workmanship. The heavy double edged blade is also of excellent quality. Though having a very graceful form this piece was designed and made as a serious fighting weapon with a heavy 9 1/2" blade and very strong mountings. This dirk/dagger is in fine original condition, the blade has not been sharpened or polished, and the brass mountings though showing some dents & dings comensurate with age have fine patina Overall Length: 15", Blade 9 1/2" |
